This page was created to host graphics generated during an analysis of the survey data from the North American Breeding Bird Suvery.
Plots of species richness and related variables only (i.e. not species richness and NLCD values).
Unless otherwise noted, "species richness" now refers to the first-order jackknife estimates.
Visualizations of data from 1992 National Land Cover Dataset attributes within designated buffer areas around the BBS routes. Two buffer sizes are used, 1 km and 5 km. Land cover characteristics are recorded as percent cover within the buffers and as numbers of cells within the buffers. Because the buffers are not all of the same size, measures of percent cover are more robust. Land use is defined according to two schemes: the original NLCD classification and an aggregate classification system designed by Napoletano and Pijanowski.
Plots of land use concentrations based on NLCD classifications
Plots of land use data with NLCD classifications aggregated into more general classes.
